Medical Loss Ratio Requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

The final rule with comment period by the federal Department of Health and Human Services revises regulations of the medical loss ration implementation requirements for health insurance issuers to address the treatment of "mini-med" and expatriate policies under the regulations after 2011. Also it will modify regulation ways that treat ICD-10 conversion costs, change rules about the deduction of expenditures for community benefit, and revise the governing rules of the distribution of rebates by group market issuers. The rule is effective on January 1, 2012.
