Summary of Services
The Kansas Department of Social and
Rehabilitation Services (SRS) Home-and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Autism Waiver services will target children up to the age of
five who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, including autism,
Aspergers Syndrome, and other pervasive developmental disorders. Children
will be eligible to enter the program from the age of diagnosis through
the age of five. The Autism Waiver services will be limited to three
years, unless medically necessary. If an extension is deemed medically
necessary, the services may be extended for one year. Waiver service
providers can be either independent providers or employees of an agency.
Previously SRS provided more limited autism services.
