Washington State Health Information Infrastructure: Final Report &
Roadmap for State Action
Washington State seeks to create a cohesive health information
system. The Washington State Health Information Infrastructure
Stakeholder's Advisory Committee (HIISAC) developed recommendations
for consumer engagement, organization and governance, the technical
infrastructure, and financing and sustainability.
The HIISAC sought input from stakeholders and other interested
parties to create recommendations for action. The recommendations
are:
-
Complete the plan for initial implementation
-
Implement the first health record banks
-
Engage consumers in the development of health record banking
-
Promote electronic medical record adoption in the health care
provider community
-
Provide funding for the 207-2009 budget period of at least $8
million to as much as $11 million to complete the initial design
plan work and implementation plan, the Washington Health
Information Collaborative awards, and partially fund six to
eight initial implementation sites for the first health record
banks
