Final Report of the Governor's Ex-Offender Task Force
This report outlines the recommendations made by the Florida Governor's Ex-Offender Task Force for reducing recidivism and helping released inmates adjust to life in their communities again. The Report has gathered various statistics on the crime population in Florida - the nation's third largest behind California and Texas. The recommendations are addressed at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC). Some of the suggestions include:
-
Pre-release planning with inmates starting on their first day of incarceration and develop individualized reentry plan for each inmate
-
Support for the development and work of reentry at the community level to help
local reentry planning and service delivery
-
Creation of a transition authority that coordinates a seamless planning process
and a continuum of services from FDC custody to the community to facilitate the successful reentry of people leaving FDC
custody
