ShareOut-of-Home Services for Emotional or Behavioral Problems Among Youths Aged 12 to 17: 2002 to 2006

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Office of Applied Studies analyzed results of the SAMHSA 2002 to 2006 annual National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUHs). The NSDUH collects data by administering questionnaires to a representative sample of the population through face-to-face interviews at their place of residence. The 2002 to 2006 data analyzed for this report on out-of-home treatment for adolescents are based on the responses of 114,016 youth between the ages of 12 to 17 who reported receiving treatment for emotional or behavioral problems in the past 12 months in a hospital, a residential treatment center, or a foster care or therapeutic foster care setting.
