Rhode Island Medicaid Health Homes State Plan Amendment
On November 23, 2011, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved Rhode Island’s Medicaid plan amendment to implement health
homes for adults over the age of 18 with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), including dual eligibles. Rhode Island is the second state to
receive approval for health homes; Missouri was the first. The Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and
Hospitals (BHDDH) state plan amendment describes consumer enrollment, the organizations that will provide health homes, required services and
activities, goals, and outcomes measurement.
