Promoting Preventive Services for Adults 50-64: Community & Clinical Partnerships
The federal Centers for Disease Control, American Medical Association, and AARP (American Association of Retired People) collaborated on the report. They
reviewed research literature to develop standards of preventive care for older adults. They recommended that physicians provide a core set of 14 preventive
services for older adults that include screenings for high cholesterol and for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer; immunizations for influenza and pneumonia;
and risk factor assessments of physical inactivity, smoking, binge drinking, obesity, high blood pressure, and moderate depression symptoms.
