ShareCRIPA Investigation of Oakley & Columbia Training Schools in Raymond & Columbia, Mississippi


This investigation found that conditions at Oakley and Columbia Training Schools in Mississippi violate the constitutional and statutory rights of juveniles as proscribed in the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act (CRIPA). Youth confined at Oakley and Columbia were found to suffer harm or the risk of harm from deficiencies in the facilities provision of mental health and medical care lack protection from harm have inadequate access to juvenile justice management be living in unsanitary conditions lack adequate general education be forced to engage in religious activities against their First Amendment rights.
