Chapin Hall Monitoring Report on Community Based Care in Broward, Dade,
& Monroe Counties
Chapin Hall Center for Children, in cooperation with the Florida
Department of Children and Families (DCF) and community based care
agencies ChildNet, Inc. and Our Kids, Inc, released a monitoring report
to determine the quality of services provided by Our Kids, Inc. and
ChildNet in their communities.
The monitoring report found the following deficiencies:

Youth in the child welfare system in Broward,
Dade, and Monroe counties of Florida changed placements during their
first six months in care

Only 50% of children in these areas visited a
dentist.

Lack of documentation of completion of federal
background checks for caregivers

Lack of family interaction
-
Infrequent visits between parents and case
managers
-
Little supervisory contact between case managers
and their superiors.

Weak organization in case files chronological
order within sections
-
Insufficient expansion on the criteria in the
case file used to judge home hazards and risks of maltreatment
