Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services: Changes in Certification Requirements for Home Health Agencies and Hospices

On January 1, 2011, new Medicaid home health rules went into effect; they clarify that skilled care and home health services—physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology services—do include services that are intended to maintain a person's condition. Restoration potential is not required. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the new regulations on November 17, 2010.
