Easter Seals Living With Disabilities Study: Key Findings

Easter Seals, with funding from MassMutual Financial Group, commissioned Harris Interactive to conduct an on-line survey in August and September 2010. Parents of adult children with disabilities were asked about their adult child’s living situation after aging out of services and supports provided through the school system. To frame disparities, their responses were compared to responses from parents of adult children without disabilities. To qualify for participation in the study, the adult child or adult with a disability would have had to have their disability prior to the age of 22; disabilities include Down syndrome, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Asperger’s disorder, or the disability may have been a result of to an accident or injury.
