Oregon Department of Human Services Investigation Report on Mount Bachelor Academy
The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) ordered Mount Bachelor Academy, a therapeutic boarding school for children aged 14 to 17.5 years, to
temporarily close and correct all areas of instruction. DHS said the school's program posed an immediate threat to all students. The order came after a seven-
month investigation substantiated nine findings of child abuse. DHS said the Lifesteps program was a key problem. Lifesteps relies on role play in front of a
peer group to help the students confront their problem behaviors.
