The Wellstone-Domenici Mental Health Parity Act of 2008: Questions and Answers for Psychologists

The Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act was enacted into law on October 3, 2008. This report from the APA Practice Organization provides answers to questions from psychologists about the new Act and what it means for professional psychology. The answers to the questions presented here are based on the statutory provisions of the Wellstone-Domenici Parity Act as well as regulatory experience with the 1996 parity law and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
