North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services Implementation Update #63: Critical Access Behavioral Health Agency
Critical access behavioral health care agencies are a new provider organization category developed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human
Services, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services and the Division of Medical Assistance. The goal is to move the
state's mental health and substance abuse treatment service system toward a more clinically directed continuum of services. The document describes how
provider agencies can start the certification process to become a critical access behavioral health care agency.
