ShareMemorandum of Understanding Among Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health, Yakima Police Department, Yakima Sheriff's Office, & Yakima County Regarding Pre-Arrest Diversion Program


This document establishes a pilot pre-arrest mental health diversion program that allows Yakima Count, Washington police officers to refer an offender to this program instead of to jail if the individual has a known or suspected history of mental illness and has committed a non-violent misdemeanor offense. Participation in this program is voluntary. Program participants will be provided with crisis stabilization, assessment, and treatment by the Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health's Acute Care Services. The program is scheduled to run through March 31, 2008.
