ShareHead Start Grant Recipient Capability Audit of Child Care Association of Brevard County, Inc.

The Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the Inspector General (OIG) audited the Child Care Association of Brevard County, Inc. (CCA), as part of a nationwide series of reviews of Head Start grantees that have applied for additional funding under the Recovery Act. The OIG auditors said CCA lacked sufficient internal controls to meet federal regulations for Head Start programs, effectively manage and account for federal funds, and may have been in danger of going out of business due to a low current ratio. CCA has since resolved the issues cited by the OIG and continues to provide services.
