ShareOhio State Special Audit of Hamilton County Department of Job & Family Services

The Ohio Department of Job and Family  Services (ODJFS) initiated a special audit of the Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services (HCDJFS) in cooperation with the Ohio Auditor of State. The special audit was the result of irregularities uncovered by the ODJFS during a regular audit of HCDJFS. The audit conducted by ODJFS revealed that HCDJFS inappropriately charged foster care expenses to other programs such as Medicaid, food stamps, Title XX of the Social Security Act, and the Workplace Investment Act.

This report by the Ohio Auditor of State was conducted at the request of ODJFS to determine if HCDJFS funds had been used as intended by the funding source and if certain contract payments were made correctly. The Auditor of State determined that HCDJFS had inappropriately transferred and mingled federal and state funds.
