Keeping the Promise: The Critical Need for Post-Adoption Services to Enable Children and Families to Succeed
The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute conducted a study looking at
post-adoption services adoptive families receive. The study found that adoptive
families in the United States need more post-adoption support services,
especially for children adopted from the foster care system. Since 1997, the
adoption of relinquished infants has become rarer, adoptions out of foster care
have nearly doubled, and adoptions of foreign children have also become more
common.
