Keeping the Promise: The Critical Need for Post-Adoption Services to Enable Children and Families to Succeed

The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute conducted a study looking at post-adoption services adoptive families receive. The study found that adoptive families in the United States need more post-adoption support services, especially for children adopted from the foster care system. Since 1997, the adoption of relinquished infants has become rarer, adoptions out of foster care have nearly doubled, and adoptions of foreign children have also become more common.
