Alberta Government Response to the Child Intervention System Review

On October 15, 2010, the government of Alberta, Canada said it would continue implementation of an outcomes-based performance management system for child welfare services in the province. The province’s Children and Youth Services (CYS) has started a pilot of an Outcomes-Based Service Delivery model; the government plans include outcomes in social service contracts in the future. The model facilitates public reporting and accountability, program and policy evaluation, and the identification of promising practices and practices needing improvement. CYS is also working with other areas of the Alberta government to streamline the types of measurement and reporting needed to ensure that clear, consistent outcomes information is available.
