Share2006 American Community Survey: Characteristics of the Group Quarters Population by Group Quarters Type

This table presents details about the total United States population that lives in group quarters such as nursing homes, adult correctional facilities, and college or university housing. The data are grouped by gender, age, racial origin, marital status, level of education, employment, and disability status. It was found that 1.8 million people live in nursing homes, predominantly women and overwhelmingly composed of those with disabilities.
