 The MetLife Market Survey
of Adult Day Services & Home Care Costs
In September, 2007, the Metlife Mature Market Institute conducted its annual
survey of home care costs in the United States. The study found that adult day
care centers daily costs average $61, with an overall range among states of $131
to $21. Home health aid hourly wages averaged $19, while homemaker and companion
wages averages $18. Many of these rates varied by geographic region. The average
patient to staff ratio was 6:1.
The study, The MetLife Market Survey of Adult Day Services & Home Care Costs
included all day center costs. The survey was conducted by telephone across the
50 states and District of Columbia.
