Medicare Advantage 2011 Data Spotlight: Plan Availability & Premiums
Researchers from Mathematica Policy Research and the Kaiser Family Foundation found that for the 2011 plan year, the number of Medicare Advantage Special
Needs Plans (SNPs) for people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid has increased by 27%, from 201
SNPs in 2010, to 256 in 2011. Although the number of dual eligible SNPs increased, overall the total number of SNPs continued to decline from the 2008 census of 753 plans; for 2011, only 408 SNPs will be in operation.
