A Progress Report on Uniting for Solutions Beyond Shelter: The Action
Plan for New York City
The
Uniting for Solutions Beyond Shelter five-year action plan represented a first-ever effort to
bring together the public, nonprofit, and business sectors in a
coordinated campaign to address homelessness in New York City. This
progress report assesses the city's success in addressing the following
initiatives:
-
Decrease the number of individuals living on
city streets
-
Decrease the number of people who need shelter
through prevention efforts
-
Increase the number of people leaving shelter
for permanent housing
-
Decrease the time that individuals and families
remain in shelter
-
Decrease the total number of people in shelters
-
Increase the supply of affordable, service-enriched, and supportive
housing
Eighty-six percent of the initiatives have been
completed. Status is highlighted by green, blue, and yellow to indicate whether
an initiative has been completed, is in progress, or has been changed.
