An Update on the Status of DYRS by the New Interim Director

On September 23, 2010, Robert Hildum, the director of the District of Columbia's Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS), gave a testimony about his first 60 days as director. In his testimony he included DYRS plans to improve mental health services for juveniles released from detention centers. Youth housed at the centers generally have received adequate care, but once released, DYRS has not ensured that youth continued to receive services to facilitate their re-entry to their communities.
