Feasibility Study for Providing Community Support and Residential Services for Individuals with Acquired Brain Injury - September 2010

The Texas Office of Acquired Brain Injury formed a work group provide research, recommendations, and options for ABI pilot Medicaid waivers. The work group requested information from the 23 other states that provide brain injury waivers; 17 states replied. The work group also solicited comments from stakeholders via a survey, which received 1,316 responses. It was estimated that more than 144,000 Texans are diagnosed with TBI annually, and of those, each year more than 5,700 become permanently disabled due to their injuries.
