 Surgeon General Draft Report Call to Action on Global Health 2006
This draft report was written under the supervision of former Surgeon
General Richard Carmona, M.D. who stepped down from the post July 31,
2006. Dr. Carmona alleges that the report has never been officially
published because he refused to include "political rhetoric" in the text.
The report discusses areas in which global health affects health in the
United States. It cites a connection between women's rights and women's
health. It further notes that sexual violence, income inequality, and
other social issues have a great effect on public health.
