Presidential Memo on the Accountable Government Initiative
On August 3, 2010, President Obama announced the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has been preparing to implement a “blue button” before the end of
2010—and Medicare has also indicated plans to implement a “blue button” before the end of 2010. The button will enable beneficiaries to electronically download their
claims or medical information in a common format from the mymedicare.gov and myhealthevet.gov web sites. The “blue button” was among his accountable
government initiatives.
