Lars Knipp et al., vs. Perdue et al.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court on behalf of six plaintiffs who have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, mental retardation and traumatic brain injury. They sued the State of Georgia for changing eligibility for a community living support program to only serve people with physical disabilities. The program, Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE), is administered by the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH). The lawsuit alleges that in 2007, DCH moved SOURCE under a new waiver program limited to the elderly and to people with physical disabilities, but continued to enroll people with mental health and developmental disabilities after the change was made.
