Proposed Settlement Agreement in Katie A. v. Bonta

California's proposed settlement agreement in the Katie A. v. Bonta class-action lawsuit will provide intensive home- and community-based mental health services to children with mental health disorders in foster care and to those at risk of removal from their families. The state Medicaid plan will provide Intensive Home-Based Services and Intensive Care Coordination to certain children. The state will also determine what parts of therapeutic foster care services are covered under Medicaid and provide that service to certain class members. The proposed settlement agreement was submitted to the court for preliminary approval, which was granted on September 27; final approval is anticipated in December 2011.
