Consumer Direction Workgroup Second Biennial Report to the Texas Legislature
The Texas Consumer Direction Workgroup formed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission found that participation in consumer-directed services
(CDS) by people with disabilities tripled from 2008 to 2010. In February 2008, about 2,000 consumers directed their support
services; in February 2010, more
than 6,000 were directing their own services. CDS permit the individual to be the employer of service providers. The report was presented to the Texas
Legislature
