 Letter to State Health Officials From the Center for Medicaid & State
Operations
On August 17, 2007, in a letter addressed to
State Health Directors, the Center for Medicaid and State Operations
outlined new standards for the State Children's Health Insurance Program
(SCHIP) that will make it more difficult for states to cover all but the
lowest-income children. The letter was sent during the August recess,
following extended debates between Administration officials and lawmakers
over the $5 billion-a-year SCHIP program.
