The Estimated Economic Cost of Traumatic Brain Injuries in the State of Texas

On July 27, 2010, CORE Health Foundation released a report from the Actuarial Risk Management Ltd. on the economic cost of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in the state of Texas. The report found that the annual economic cost of TBI in Texas was $6.8 billion. The economic cost included lost earnings in TBI-related deaths, the cost of emergency room visits due to TBI, and the cost for on-going medical treatment, hospitalization, and disability.
