ShareOregon Speaks: Community Addiction Services Investment Strategy

The report reflects the results of focus groups held statewide in the fall of 2007 to assess community stakeholders priorities related to addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services. The researchers also present data from the State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup.

About 258,000 Oregonians are estimated to have substance abuse or dependence problems, but only about 60,000 people, 25% of the total estimate, use publicly funded treatment programs each year. The greatest amount of unmet need was among individuals under the age of 26.
