ShareGovernor Bill Ritter's FY 2009 10 2009-Budget Balancing Plan

On August 18, 2009, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter announced a second round of budget cuts that will restrict the provision of behavioral health services in the state. The state's June 22 revenue forecast indicated that despite a two percent cut to agency budgets for the fiscal year that started July 1, 2009, more cuts were needed. All agencies were directed to submit 10% budget reduction proposals by July 20, 2009. Most of the cuts will start September 1, 2009. The cuts affect behavioral health services provided by multiple departments and programs.
