 Ambulatory Medical Care Utilization Estimates for 2006
The National Center for Health Statistics issues an annual report on
health care utilization. For
2006, there were about one billion emergency department and physician
office visits. From 1996 to 2006, physician office and hospital
outpatient and emergency service visits increased by 26%. Researchers
used data from the 2006 National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey and the
National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey to produce estimates of
ambulatory medical care utilization.
