ShareMedicaid Preventive Services: Concerted Efforts Needed to Ensure Beneficiaries Receive Services

GAO, Government Accountability Office, conducted a study and examined data for the extent of treatment to severely ill children and adults, state monitoring and coverage of preventive services, and federal oversight by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, (CMS). After analyzing the data, GAO recommends ensuring initial screenings to new patients of Medicaid, regularly reviewing programs, and expedite efforts for coverage for obese-related issues.
