SharePrevalence & Qualifications of Non-Physicians Who Performed Medicare Physician Services

The federal Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) reviewed a sample of 250 physicians who billed Medicare for more than 24 hours of services in a day during the first three months of 2007. OIG sought to determine how many Medicare services are performed by unqualified health care workers.
