Nebraska DHHS Medicaid & Long-Term Care: Questions & Answers for Facilities About Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMDs)

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care released a fact sheet for long-term care provider organizations about the Medicaid coverage exclusion of Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMDs). If more than 50% of residents of a long-term care facility have a primary or secondary mental health diagnosis, the facility will be classified as an IMD and Medicaid will not reimburse the provider organization for care provided to Medicaid beneficiaries. The fact sheet describes how DHHS will determine if a long-term care facility is an IMD.
