 Frequent Users of Health Services Initiative: Final Evaluation Report
A study was prepared for The California
Endowment and the California HealthCare Foundation for their project
entitled The Frequent Users of Health Services Initiative. This study was
to aid in launching an initiative for those who make frequent emergency
department visits. This would help to relieve pressure on overburdened
systems and promote more effective use of resources. In the first year of
the program's implementation, the use of emergency department decreased
by 30%; hospital charges decreased by 17%. By the second year,
utilization decreased over 60%. |
