ShareMaine Child Welfare Internship Program Manual

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides Internship opportunities for undergraduates of four year social services-related programs in Maine to promote a broader understanding of DHHS and public child welfare, to provide learning experiences for students, and to assist in recruiting staff with basic knowledge of the child welfare field and a commitment to the mission of safety, permanency, and well-being for children. This Manual, written by Faith Griffith, provides a structure for Internships in the Department and establishes a process for child welfare staff and educational institutions to use to work together to meet the needs of students investigating career options in child welfare and learning to apply academic knowledge in a real workplace setting.
