Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Medicare reiterated its position that insurers must cover "all or substantially all" of the drugs in six classifications, which are often prescribed for Medicare beneficiaries. These drug classifications include:
antidepressants like Zoloft and Paxil; antipsychotics like Zyprexa, for schizophrenia and severe bipolar disorder;
anticonvulsants like Neurontin, to treat epilepsy and pain; H.I.V. drugs;
cancer medications; immunosuppressants, to prevent the body from rejecting transplanted organs.
