The Ohio Model of Differentiated Accountability
As part of the United States' No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Legislation,
six states were chosen to join the Differentiated Accountability Pilot
Program, a program designed for states to bring all schools up to NCLB
standards by 2014. Ohio was one of those states. The program began July
1, 2008, as all states were required to begin their program immediately
after being chosen.
Ohio's plan will look more closely at how many and which groups did not
meet adequate yearly progress (AYP) standards in each district instead of
focusing on the number of years the district fails to meet AYP standards.
