ShareMaryland Application for the NCLB Differentiated Accountability Pilot

As part of the United States' No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Legislation, six states were chosen to join the Differentiated Accountability Pilot Program, a program designed for states to bring all schools up to NCLB standards by 2014. Maryland was one of those states. The program began July 1, 2008, as all states were required to begin their program immediately after being chosen.

In Maryland's plan, all Title I schools that need improvement are required to introduce public school choice to all students in the district. In addition, all children in all Title I schools that need improvement in year 2 must have access to supplemental education services.
