 North Carolina DHHS Overview of the New CAP/MRDD Tiered Waivers
This document explains the special plan amendment submitted to the
federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The plan features a
tiered waiver system, such that more services are available to
individuals with higher needs and fewer services are available to
individuals with less acute needs. It was submitted to CMS on June 30,
2008. If the plan is approved, DHHS intends to implement it by November 2008.
