New York State Medicaid Update July 2011
The newsletter, released by the New York Department of Health, alerted provider
organizations about the start of mandatory enrollment of seriously
and persistently mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children into
Medicaid physical health managed care organizations (MCOs). The newsletter
described which mental health and addiction treatment services will be
covered by the Medicaid MCOs and which will be carved out as fee for service. Other updates
include Medicaid presumptive eligibility for pregnant women, changes to pharmacy prior authorization requirements, e-Prescribing incentives, and mandatory
provider compliance program certification.
