ShareDesigning Effective Health Care Quality Transparency Initiatives

Two state-based programs, CalHospital Compare and Massachusetts Health Quality Partners, have implemented model transparent health care quality. These two programs have been successful because they engage and collaborate with providers, give attention to quality of data reported, present easily comprehendible data sets, and provide hospitals with detailed performance records. This case study, written by Ha T. Tu and Johanna R. Lauer, explains each reason of success and implications for other initiatives.
