ShareEmergency Department Utilization and Capacity

Hospitals emergency care department have decreased in growth since 1991 which consequently increase the amount of patients in each current ED, emergency department. This article by Derek DeLia, Ph.D., Associate Research Professor, Joel Cantor, Sc.D., Professor and Director; and Center for State Health Policy, Rutgers University, explains that the heavy amount of patients in a small amount of EDs can be a cause of uncompensated care, equaling less financial viability. The issue of ED overcrowding is becoming more commonplace and concerns of availability of emergency medical providers rise. The article reveals the functioning of the U.S. health sector just by the recent patterns of the emergency departments.
