ShareArkansas DBHS Rehabilitation Services for Persons With Mental Illness: Provider Certification Rules

The Arkansas Division of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) instituted a rule that mental heath rehabilitation service providers must ensure family involvement and cultural competency to gain DBHS certification. DBHS certification is required before the Arkansas Division of Medical Services (DMS) will establish a Medicaid provider number. The rule applies to sites where Rehabilitative Services for Persons with Mental Illness (RSPMI) are provided. All RSPMI agencies must have DBHS certification for each RSPMI site before providing RSPMI services at that site. Off-site service locations such as a school, day care facility, or long-term care facility, where RSPMI services may be delivered are not required to hold DBHS certification. RSPMI service providers must be in compliance by July 15, 2008.
