Procedures & Algorithms for Calculating Performance Indicators

ShareNew York State Office Of Mental Health Division of Managed Care Bureau of Performance and Outcomes Management for Adult Special Needs Plans Request for Proposals

New York State's Adult Special Needs Plan (SNP) has developed a document, "Procedures & Algorithms for Calculating Performance Indicators" that addresses quality assurance and performance management of the SNPs. The document groups indicators broadly by seven performance areas - Service Access, Service Appropriateness, Efficiency, Wellness, Skills and Abilities, Community Integration, and Prevention. The performance indicators - numerical summaries of performance devised from measures used to gather the data - will be used to monitor SNP performance. This document also describes the data sources and algorithms used to compute the indicators outlined in the RFP.

Issued on July 19, 1999, New York States SNP RFP - designed to provide mental health services to a population of adults who receive Medicaid and are diagnosed with serious mental illness - is in its final decision-making stages. New York States "Procedures & Algorithms for Calculating Performance Indicators" reflects the comprehensive scope of services and quality of life issues associated with this initiative.
