Washington State Children’s Administration Fact Sheet About Performance-Based Contracting

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Children’s Administration has been planning to release a request for proposals (RFP) to implement performance-based contracting. By July 1, 2011, all Children's Administration contracts for child and family services will be based on performance standards and measurable outcomes. The Children’s Administration is also preparing to privatize child welfare case management in two sites. Slated to start by December 30, 2012, the demonstration will compare outcomes for the private contractors with Children’s Administration staff. Families will be randomly assigned to Children's Administration case management as a control group or to a supervising private agency.
